Loo Hwee Hwee is a senior art therapist at Khoo Teck Puat – National University Children’s Medical Institute, National University Hospital, with over a decade of experience working with young people coping with various mental and psychosocial issues such as anxiety, eating disorders, depression, trauma, abuse, bereavement, and psycho-somatic issues. Hwee Hwee was appointed as a council member of the Art Science Council of Mind Art Experiential lab (MAELab) of the Mind Science Centre, which is one of the NUS Centers of Excellence, in 2021. She spearheaded Project Dreamcatchers, an arts-based programme for youths living with chronic illness and conducted art therapy workshops for children affected by the Fukushima disaster. Hwee Hwee has presented at various conferences and co-authored a book chapter on supporting the mental health of Singapore’s migrant workers with art during the pandemic.
